The speaker, VP of AI models and head at the MIT-IBM Watson AI Lab, stressed the significance of collaboration in innovation, notably in the current artificial intelligence ecosystem.
The IBM executive pointed out the complex character of transparency in machine learning, contesting the simplistic view of the concept. He pointed out the growing ecosystem of open models from various sources, including tech giants, universities, and nation-states.
Nonetheless, he articulated reservations about the nature of transparency in many Large Language Models, noting that a number of them deliver barely more than a collection of data points lacking transparency in their creation techniques.
